Someone - one of the few thousand inhabitants of the spaceship - tried to kill her. And if Amy doesn't do something soon, her parents will be next. Now, Amy must race to unlock Godspeed's hidden secrets. But out of her list of murder suspects, there's only one who matters: Elder, the future leader of the ship and the love she could never have seen coming.
My Review

Across The Universe was an impossible book to put down. I'd be cooking dinner and reading and my pasta turned out over cooked as a result. Bad for the taste buds but good for the book! Now here is what I liked most out of it; THE CHAPTERS. They were perfectly thought out, paced and it was like when you watched a TV show and the scene cuts to another just when you start to get to the edge of your seat. OH WOW! The book had my heart beating to the point that I may or may not have developed heart palpitations as a result. Also, the socio-ethical themes in this book tied my brain in a "WHAT THE HELL" knot. Mind you I love it when my brain gets knotty. The book through me for a (good, very, VERY good) loop. Other than that here's my other likes/dislikes about the book.

What I liked:

  • The characters were wonderfully fleshed out. You could relate very well to their personal conflicts. I love being able to connect in such with a character.
  • The plot was good and well thought out. The back stories were yummy!
  • THE COVER! 'nuff said!
What I didn't like:
  • How jealous Elder would get. I'm sorry but a little is cute. He was a tiny bit freaky sometimes.
  • How whiny Amy got a few times.
  • There's no third thing. That's that!
A Million Suns, the second installment in the series comes out January 10th 2012
